Is It True? Are There Really Pharmaceuticals in our Drinking Water? Is It True? Are There Really Pharmaceuticals in our Drinking Water?

Is It True? Are There Really Pharmaceuticals in our Drinking Water?

WATER FILTRATION 5 min read

When the World Health Organisation decides to commit to a study on pharmaceuticals in our water, you know there`s a reason.

Here`s an excerpt from the study.

Pharmaceuticals are synthetic or natural chemicals that can be found in prescription medicines, over-the-counter therapeutic drugs and veterinary drugs. Pharmaceuticals contain active ingredients that have been designed to have pharmacological effects and confer significant benefits to society. The occurrence of pharmaceuticals in the environment and the water cycle at trace levels (in the range of nanograms to low micrograms per litre) has been widely discussed and published in literature in the past decade. The increase in detection is largely attributable to the advances in analytical techniques and instrumentation. Many surveys and studies have confirmed the presence of pharmaceuticals in municipal wastewater and effluents, and these have been identified as a major source of pharmaceuticals in drinking water.

So yes, it is in our water. It comes from many sources, but one that surprised me was the simple act of taking a dip in a river. It appears that if we are ón meds`, then we are also sweating them out. This med-laden sweat ends up in the water.

Activated carbon is the simplest way to reduce pharmaceuticals in your home water. No, we can`t tell you exactly how much of every pharmaceutical they will remove, but the WHO report recommends their use.

(In my filter, I use catalytic carbon – around 8 x more effective than common activated carbon.)

Carbon, the report says, can achieve high removal of pharmaceutical target compounds, especially hydrophobic compounds. As with all contaminants, removal efficacy is a function of contact time, organic loading, chemical structure, solubility and carbon type (Ternes et al., 2002; Yoon Y. et al., 2003; Snyder et al., 2006) And there are some that are still resistant, such as: Iopromide, ibuprofen, meprobamate, sulfamethoxazole and diclofenac . (Khiari, 2007).

Here`s my take on this issue.

1. It`s a good thing we know about the problem.

2. The amounts of pharmaceuticals in our drinking water and their effects on us will relate – obviously – to how much tap water we drink.

3. We have had people criticising us about being alarmist to sell water filters.
I understand where they are coming from. The world has two kinds of people: those who believe they are taking in contaminants in a therapeutically negative amount, and those who simply choose not to believe it despite the evidence.

4. I am inspired by Erin Brockovitch more than by the Managing Director of Monsanto. Erin understood that we are all living on a polluted planet. She acted to change her region, and she succeeded.

We absorb contaminants through the plastics we use for almost everything, through the air, through our water, our food, through our clothes, even through our mattress as we sleep!

A report I read some years ago concluded that an average US female had a minimum of 600 contaminants in the body.

So yes, pharmaceuticals in your water are still what our experts label as low dose. But we all know that`s not all, is it? There`s the carcinogenic chlorine, its nasty co-carcinogen chloramine, there`s brain affecting fluoride, lead from old pipes…. and that`s just the water!

I prefer to see myself as a pragmatist than an alarmist and what I do with the lives of myself and my family matters first to me. In my position I read hundreds of reports on adverse water quality.. but I don`t snasties.ee it as the total picture. I see it as a factor I can affect – something I can consciously subtract from the daily list of contaminants I have unthinkingly absorbed and stored. By doing so I`m reducing the possibility of a tipping point event where my body metabolism simply gives up due to the overload of `safe`doses of hundreds of nasties.

Here`s my personal bottom line. What`s yours?
If indeed we do already have hundreds of different contaminants in our cells, my awareness gives me the chance to begin dismantling this growing threat to my health, even if I have to do it one by one.

I can`t dismiss the obvious observation that as a nation we all seem fat.
And yet we are also also seeing stranger symptoms. Manboobs. Sterility. Ongoing seemingly infinitely variable undiagnosable symptoms. As I see it, it`s very likely that these unheard-of symptoms may relate to a toxic soup of contaminants from all of the sources I mentioned earlier. Fat may simply be inflammation. medically speaking, it`s called chronic low level inflammation. Hmm. that word again. “Low level”.

I can`t remove all of them..
well, I may be able to – but it`d be a concerted and painful detoxification process… but I do have the power in my own hands to identify their source, and do whatever it takes to remove them from my life.

Just a water Filter Salesman?

To answer my critics who say I`m just trying to sell you a water filter.. yes, they are right.

But is there anyone else who has alerted you to the problem and handed you a solution? No.

If a doctor walked up to you on the street and said I am a doctor and I can tell you have …. disease, would you judge him for it?

I`m not a doctor. I`ve only spent the last 18 years studying our drinking water and supplying solutions.

So you make the call.
Am I worth listening to? Or am I just trying to sell you something? Or both?

I am the inventor of what I believe is the most advanced simple water filter on the market. We`ve broken the rules of the industry – one that (I have observed) prefers to tell the customer as little as possible about how well their products really work.

I have taken the steps to test its capability for the whole of its life: something I`ve never seen done before for any water filter. I`ve had it approved by the EU safety committee. I`ve run it through an exhaustive University lab. I`ve sourced every filter media from USA rather than the far east. I am proud of what I and my team have achieved in helping over 20,000 people, and receiving their letters of gratitude.

Best Solar Energy Company

If you`re considering solar energy, it`s essential to find the Best Solar Energy Company for your home. Whether you`re installing solar batteries or panels or batteries, you`ll require a reliable expert to help you navigate the process.

Best Solar Energy Company

Solar Energy Benefit

Solar energy can be used as a replacement for the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are a non-renewable resource that, when burned, release greenhouse gasses into our environment. Solar energy is eco-friendly and renewable despite any “startup” costs in terms of materials and manufacturing.

Solar Energy Experience

One of the biggest factors in choosing an experienced solar provider is experience. Experience is the most important aspect in choosing a solar company. A business should be in operation for at least 10 years, and has a track record of installing high-quality solar panels. This will guarantee that your system is installed by a professional and lasts for a long period of time.

You can verify the credentials of potential solar installers and read customer reviews on sites like Trustpilot or Best Company. Ask your neighbors and friends about their experiences with local solar companies.

If you`re looking for a solar company to install your solar panel, be sure they`ve been operating for at minimum 10 years. Also, be sure to research your area. This will help you save time and money when traveling.

A company should provide competitive prices and discounts on equipment and installation services. This will save you cash in the end and will prevent you from being charged a premium for the solar investment.

Alongside pricing, you should also consider a company`s warranty policies and other warranties. A company that offers a warranty is a good indication that they are confident in their work. you will be able to rest assured that your equipment will be protected by the manufacturer`s guarantee.

Numerous companies provide free quotes, which will provide you with an estimate of the price and energy use of your project. It is possible to request quotes through an email, a phone number or via an online form.

You`ll be able to meet with a representative of the firm during your free meeting to discuss your objectives and to answer any questions. Make sure you inquire whether financing options are available and what local solar credits or incentives that might be available in your local area.

You should also consider a firm which offers a multi-tiered guarantee system. This includes product warranties including performance warranties, as well as inverter warranties. A good warranty claims team is available to help you solve any issues that could arise from the solar panel.

Solar Energy Reputation

When you need a new solar energy system, it`s crucial to hire the best company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality installation and exceptional customer service. To find the most suitable solar energy provider to install your solar system, look at their solar options, warranties and pricing.

Reputation is the measure of the amount of respect or admiration an individual or company has earned in a community or group. It`s a general perception of the character of an individual`s or group`s actions or character as well as accomplishments.

In the context of business, reputation is a powerful tool that can help a company increase its profits. Research has shown that businesses that have more Yelp stars have greater revenue and are more likely to succeed in their respective field.

But a good reputation isn`t necessarily a guarantee that the company will do well. Many companies try to entice customers into purchasing cheap, inferior solar equipment at bargain cost. This can lead to inadequate customer service, which can result in a company being forced to go out of business.

A high-quality customer service is a hallmark of the best solar companies. They should have skilled salespeople and in-house installers, and a quick customer service department. They should also provide complete warranty protections as well as various financing options.

Another method to determine a solar company`s reputation is to look up online reviews. The most reliable solar companies will be present on sites like Yelp as well as Angie`s List, as well as partnerships with local organizations and companies.

A solar company that has an established reputation will have plenty of reviews from satisfied customers and respond to negative ones promptly, if at any time at all. Reviews that are negative can be a sign that a company has a long-standing history of poor customer service, and it`s worth avoiding those companies.

Solar companies that specialize in installing new roofs are often more focused on earning business rather than assisting customers. This can cause long-term problems for example, not responding to customer complaints or failing to repair or replace equipment that has failed.

Solar Energy Warranty

If you`re looking to purchase solar panels to your home, be sure that the warranty protects the workmanship, equipment and performance. The best warranties protect your investment and make sure that the solar panels perform according to the promises made.

The industry standard for solar panel performance guarantees is 25 years. However, some manufacturers offer an extended time frame. For instance, REC`s dual glass and bifacial panels come with 30 years of power output warranty.

SunPower offers a strong warranty for its products, which includes coverage for labor. The process for claiming warranty benefits is simple: call a SunPower-authorized installer to submit the claim for the replacement of a panel.

LG provides a solid performance warranty that has a low degradation limit, but its labor warranty is limited to $450. This is due to the fact that LG doesn`t have an extensive installer network like Panasonic and SunPower do.

ADT Solar offers an excellent power production guarantee, which guarantees that your system will generate the amount of electricity it promises, or will replace panels that do not reach that target. Inverters that they employ are also covered by a warranty.

ADT Solar also offers a warranty on workmanship that covers problems with your solar system`s installation. This guarantee is based on the high quality of their installation and is available to homeowners across the nation.

Palmetto Solar earns our pick for the top solar energy provider in New York because it has an excellent reputation with clients and within the solar industry. It is also because they focus on helping their clients understand what they are buying. This company also offers the Peace of Mind Protection Plan, which includes 24/7 monitoring and immediate customer service.

In addition to warranty coverage, a reputable solar energy firm should also be able to provide financing options to finance your purchase. This is important as it will impact your solar incentive eligibility and overall installation cost. This factor is more important for companies that offer multiple payment options such as leases or Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Solar Energy Pricing

It is essential to select the best company when you`re considering going solar. The most reliable company will provide the best quality service and installation at a cost-effective price.

The cost of solar companies` services depends on several factors, including the company`s reputation, experience and coverage. It is also important to take into account your place of residence, as prices differ significantly by city and state.

The price of solar panels is dropping quickly as the industry develops making the technology more affordable for homeowners. This trend is expected to remain the same as the solar market grows more popular and utility-scale installations replace older, dirty and expensive power plants.

Although it`s hard to determine the exact cost of a solar array, most experts agree that an average 5-kW solar system will cost between $15,000 and $25,000 before incentives or tax credits. In addition to permitting and interconnection costs, the total is likely to be around $40,000.

The size of your solar panel is yet another aspect that could impact the cost. A larger system will result in a higher wattage, or the amount of power generated by one panel. This means that it will cost more money to install.

Like the first idea the more efficient your system is the more you`ll pay per watt. It is crucial to choose the right system for you home so that you can conserve as much energy as you can.

There are a variety of ways to finance your project to offset the initial costs. Generally, these loans can be arranged by the solar company or through a private lender. There are fees associated with financing that can be significant therefore, it is important to budget for this in advance.

The size of your solar panel will also determine the amount you`ll save on your monthly electric bill. It`s best to go with the most efficient model you can afford.

A long-standing reputation and a track record of offering high-quality services to their customers is the hallmark of the most reliable solar energy companies. They should also offer an unbeatable warranty as well as a fair payment plan to ease your financial burden.

Best Solar Energy Company FAQs

1. What are the financial benefits of solar energy?

When you install a solar energy system on your property, you save money on your electricity bills and protect yourself against rising electricity rates in the future. How much you can save depends on the utility rates and solar policies in your area, but going solar is a smart investment regardless of where you live.

2. What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?

Solar power, like other renewable energy resources, has many environmental and health benefits. Going solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change, and also results in fewer air pollutants like sulfur dioxide and particulate matter, which can cause health problems.

3. How do I find out how much I pay for electricity?

The easiest way to find out how much you pay for electricity (and how much electricity you use per month) is to take a look at your utility electricity bill. Review EnergySage’s guide to reading your electricity bill to find out exactly what to look for.

4. What is net metering?

Net metering is the system that utilities use to credit solar energy system owners for the electricity produced by their solar panels. With net metering, you only pay for the electricity that you use beyond what your solar panels can generate. Net metering policies differ from state to state – from Massachusetts to California – so make sure to do your homework ahead of time.

5. How does solar impact my property values?

Studies have shown that homes with solar energy systems sell for more than homes without them. However, your property value will only increase if you own, rather than lease, your solar panel system. In most parts of the country, going solar will actually increase your property value more than a kitchen renovation.
